A rail-mounting assembly with a zinc-coated U-bolt base, long B-size arm and round AMPS plate. Use the extra reach to position a compatible holder where a shorter arm cannot provide the required clearance.

Choose a compatible device holder or cradle separately. The holder and device are not included.

Specifications

• Ball size: B size, 1 inch (25.4 mm).
• Rail diameter range: 0.5–1.25 inches (12.7–31.8 mm) using the appropriate included U-bolt and spacer.
• Long arm: 6 inches (152.4 mm) overall; 5.31 inches (134.9 mm) socket-to-socket.
• Round plate: 2.5 inches (63.5 mm) diameter; four-hole AMPS 1.181 × 1.496 inches (30 × 38 mm), plus three-hole 120-degree pattern on a 1.812-inch (46 mm) circle.
• Hardware supplied with RAM-B-231ZU: one 1/4-20 U-bolt for 0.5–1-inch rails, one 1/4-20 U-bolt for 1–1.25-inch rails, two 1/4-20 Nyloc nuts, two rubber end caps and one U-bolt spacer.
• Materials: marine-grade aluminium arm, ball plate and base, with zinc-coated U-bolt hardware.
• RAM’s published B-size component ratings: up to 2 lb (0.91 kg) for standard use and 1 lb (0.45 kg) for heavy-duty use. Mounting surface, leverage, vibration and the full holder-and-device load must also be assessed.

• Warranty: RAM advertises a lifetime warranty for these mounting components, subject to its warranty terms. This component bundle does not extend that warranty to a device, vehicle or installation.

Help

Measure the rail diameter and check the U-bolt fits around it with sufficient thread engagement. The base sits at a right angle to the rail. Check clearance from controls, cables and moving parts, and assess the total holder-and-device load under vibration. A longer arm increases leverage; its extra reach does not increase capacity.

Check the selected holder’s hole pattern, thread and required screw length before assembly.

Compatibility

The supplied output is a four-hole AMPS plate with a B-size ball. Use it with a flat-backed holder that accepts this pattern and suitable fasteners. A holder with an integrated 1-inch B-size ball can fit directly into the arm instead of the supplied upper plate. A C-size ball requires a matching C-size arm.
