🛠 Helpful Setup Tips for Your 18" RAM POD Mount

If you're having trouble getting your aluminium rod to stay firmly in place, it might be due to how the rod was bent during setup. Here’s what you need to know to get the best results:

Bend the Rod First, Then Insert It

Make sure to bend the aluminium rod before inserting it into the mounting foot. If you insert it first and then try to bend it, the soft aluminium can deform unevenly and won’t grip properly — exactly like what’s shown in this customer photo:

Following the correct sequence helps the foot clamp securely and evenly.

🔧 If You’re Already Having Grip Issues:

Don’t worry — the aluminium is soft and fixable. Try one of the following:

    • Option 1: Loosen the foot clamp, remove the rod, gently squash the deformed end in a vice to reshape it, and reinsert it fully.

    • Option 2: If it’s too far gone, you can cut off the damaged end with a hacksaw and use the fresh section.

👉 Important: Make sure the rod is inserted all the way down into the foot — the actual gripping force is at the very base, not where the side cutouts are (those are there to allow flex, not grip).
