The RAM-VB-196-1-SW1 features a heavy-duty steel mounting base designed to fit a variety of vehicles. Using the front bench or passenger side seat rail bolts as attachment points, existing hardware is used to secure the laptop mount base in the vehicle.

The included RAM Tough-Tray™ is spring loaded to accommodate 10" to 17" laptops. The tray features four adjustable retaining arms with rubber grips. These arms can be moved both vertically and horizontally, enabling a custom fit for varying thicknesses of laptops and access to ports or drives. A screen support and USB light are also available to accessorise the tray. Hole patterns on perimeter of tray facilitate the mounting of additional RAM systems to support phones or other electronics.
Note: Part number reflects product packaged in clear clam shell for store shelf display. The Tough-Tray™ is compatible with laptops that have 17" screens.

AustraliaThe Ram product is a good quality product. The assembly and installation was pretty straight forward. There a couple of fiddly bits in the assembly mainly related to the tray. Once installed into the vehicle the unit is pretty adaptable to your space and will require some adjustments to suit your viewing positions and clearance from the glovebox opening etc. Overall it is a great solution for laptops and tablets for the office on the go. For context I have installed into a standard two door cab chassis, you would probably either remove the upper section all together if you had a passenger with you or have to fold it out of the way.
AustraliaI had to make up two small brackets to mount it in a DMax without bending the legs on the laptop mount, but that's why the good lord gave me an angel grinder and a TIG torch. Once mounted correctly it is really solid and holds a large laptop, an iPhone, three microphones, 2 Garmin GPSMaps and a Motorola APX8000 portable radio with hardly any movement over rough unpaved roads. If you are going to take care of expensive electronics, get a quality mounting system - it's false economy to skimp...
