D-Size Components utilise a 2.25" diameter ball and socket system, which RAM Mounts officially say is recommended for holding devices up to 6 pounds (approximately 2.7kg). The D-size ball system is most commonly used in marine, mining and other industries where larger devices need to be held, and where vibration is higher. The larger ball and socket size reduces vibration significantly compared to smaller ball sizes.
